Microneedling
Complete skin rejuvenation including facial treatment
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that encourages collagen production using tiny, sterilised needles. It may help smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles. When you book microneedling at LR MediClinic, you'll receive a full facial and mask tailored to your skin goals.
We begin with a thorough cleansing facial using medical grade skincare, and complete your session with a luxury mask tailored to your skin goals. We will always complete with an spf cream which you’re advised to use for at least two weeks following treatment, and throughout all your microneedling course.
Most of our clients see results after the second treatment, and we advised four to see the full results. As with all collagen enhancing treatments, you’ll see true results after four weeks as the skin renewal process steps up.
How does microneedling work?
We use 12 disposable microscopic needles which are attached to a handheld device to gently puncture the skin. The skin reacts by naturally releasing healing collagen and elastin to repair itself. This production of collagen and elastin work to tighten, smooth and firm the skin for an all-round improved appearance.
The length of the needle is adjusted throughout the course of your treatments and after session 2, we will apply a numbing cream.
To further enhance the results of your treatment, we apply one of our advanced serums during the treatment with a bespoke blend of nourishing ingredients.Followed by a moisture intensive, post treatment mask.

1. Please stop using topical Retinols, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acids, Salicylic Acid and Tretinoin 5 days before your treatment. This will minimise pain and bruising. However, if you have been established on these for a long time and your skin is likely to flare up without them, you do not need to stop them.
2. Please stop using any Vitamin E supplements and Ibuprofen/Neurofen 5 days before your treatment. Please do not stop any Aspirin prescribed by your GP.
3. Botox and fillers should be avoided 4 weeks before and after your treatments.
4. Please do not drink alcohol 24 hours before and after the procedure. You are slightly more likely to bruise with it.
5. Make sure you eat something before your appointment and are well hydrated. This prevents feeling light headed during the procedure.
6. It is advisable to take 1 g of Paracetamol (2 tablets) 30 mins-1 hour before your appointment as it will significantly reduce any discomfort during the procedure.
7. Please attend the appointment alone. There is limited space in the clinic and anybody with you will be asked to wait outside the building.
8. Please come to the appointment with makeup removed and minimal jewellery.

It’s normal to experience certain side effects after a microneedling procedure.
Your skin can be flushed or even bright red when you leave your visit.
Within 48 hours, the majority of the redness you experience will go away. Peeling, flaking and breakouts may take a little longer.
Microneedling may cause mild bruising, with the eye contour being the most at risk. This will be temporary.
Although not everyone will experience them, additional side effects from microneedling include pimples, acne, and dry skin.
The majority of the visible healing takes place in the first couple of days following treatment, however healing will continue beneath the skin’s surface for up to two months.
By taking good care of your skin, side effects may be reduced.
Do not wash your face on the day after treatment, and use a gentle facial wash the following 24 hours.
Use of an intensive moisturiser is advised at least once a week as your
skin may feel drier or tighter. This is quite normal .
Use sunscreen with a spf minimum 30 even when inside and cloudy days for the next 14 days. We will apply CLINICARE Sun Shield Silky Cream SPF30 at the end of your treatment. If you would like to purchase please let us know when you book so we can have it in stock ready for you.
Avoid extreme temperatures such as sunlight, saunas, steam rooms and sun beds for 2 weeks post treatment.
Do not swim in chlorinated water for 14 days.
Avoid any more of facial hair removal for 72 hours.

We can treat the face, neck and chest.

The treatment helps to lift and tighter the skin for a more defined and younger glow.
Dermapen can effectively tackle fine lines and wrinkles in specific areas of the face, including the delicate areas around the eyes and mouth.
We can treat acne scars, reducing and repairing any damage to the surface of the skin.
It’s also an effective solution to minimise enlarged pores.
The process tightens and refines pores through the natural production of collagen and elastin, which may continue to provide even better results following the treatment.

On average, microneedling results last up to a year when the full course has been completed.
Results depend on:
Skin type and condition
Age
Lifestyle and habits
Number of sessions
Aftercare routine

Like all medical treatments, there are side effects and risks.
Common side effects of microneedling include redness, mild swelling, and temporary sensitivity
-
It’s important that you wait at least 24 hours after the session before using makeup on your face. It depends on the individual how long it will take for their skin to recover and be ready for makeup, but it is typically advised to wait a minimum of 24 to 72 hours before going back to your regular makeup routine.
We recommend avoiding any fragranced facial product for 3-5 days.
-
The blood flow to the treated regions is increased when you exercise right after your microneedling session, which makes your skin more sensitive, painful, and swollen.
Patients are recommended to wait anywhere between 48 and 72 hours after treatment for the skin to completely recover before exercising.
-
Avoid drinking alcohol for seven days after your treatment. Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it dehydrates the body. Dehydration will significantly slow down the repair of your skin. You should drink lots of water for the 48 hours after treatment.
-
As a result of the increased turnover of skin cells, the treated area may peel and flake for three to five days after microneedling.
Be careful not to pick or scratch at your skin.
You may experience a slight sand paper feel to your skin for a few days afterwards. This is completely normal.
